Squirrels New Home

I've had a couple of squirrels descend upon the bird feeders this year - first time in ever. So I was happy to see these two working on their new abode in the park across the street. I'd like to think it is the couple that were in my yard, and they have moved on.  Probably that's just a dream on my part!

First Raspberry 2017

Seems like the raspberries are coming on, and later than usual. The plants are also shorter than usual right now - about 4-5 Ft instead of 5-7 Ft.  The berry was still quite delicious!

Iris Anew

Blooming for the first time since it's transplant to the yard (from pot), this deep purple iris. First time both of these are blooming at same time. Very pretty duo.

Birdseed Marauder

This is the first year where squirrels are attacking my bird feeders.  Up to now, they've had other wild things to attack. But the lot behind me was recently bushwacked and bull dozed, so some of their haunts are destroyed.  Either a squirrel baffle is called for, or a peanut feeder for them. So far, there are 3.  This one being the most acrobatic.  Sort of like an otter, leaving his snack on stomach and grabbing a seed now and then.

Buy Local

Here is my morning purchase from Alderbook Gardens - a hop, skip and jump in the neighborhood.

Includes cosmos, dianthus, petunia, coral bells, and a bunch of other stuff.  Now I have to do something with them!
